Called Up to AA....Someday Maybe

Our friend Tim Morgan (Mr. Tim) coaches his sons team in AA Little League (its wheel pitch) and he has had some problems fielding a team toward the end of the year.  I told him that Carson would play and at least he would have someone in the field and not have to take an out for a person not batting.  So we showed up and.....In the dugout with the other "Brewers", getting a little instruction from Mr. "Coach" Tim (he asked me why he had to call him coach Tim and not Mr. Tim), he had 1 hit and 2 rbi's,  much to everyones surprise he did not strikeout in 3 at bats, the other 2 were ground outs to first.  He got hit with a ball from the wheel machine and because he was swinging it was still a strike, so after running to first he had to go back and get in the box, but then he got his hit!!!  Passed ball, so the coaches had him steal second, he ended up on third and almost scored....Here he is with Liam (Tim and Julie's son), Liam is making a goofy face.....thank you Tim for giving him a chance!!!!!

To the Zoo

Took a trip to finally see the new Africa Exhibit at the zoo.  Ms. Julie and Fiona came with us and we had a very fun day.  Fiona and Carson were cut from the same cloth as you can see by several of these photos :).  I think the chimp photo makes me laugh the most - not only because Carson is making a dorky face, but because minutes later this chimp charged the glass and scared the crap out of Carson! If only we had video so we could share the moment.  That's right, I find humor in my son's terror...send me my mother of the year award right now please :).  We absolutely love the zoo!!!

NERF WAR

The "boys" had a Nerf War this afternoon.  Carson was in heaven, and the big boys had a pretty good time too! Mr. Matt from the rotunda spot, Uncle Tony by the front door on a sneak attack, Carson finds Uncle Tony in the pantry and lets him have it with the Machine Gun, Carson and Uncle Tony showing their killer face (notice the sweat, its a tough battle).

Carson in a Cubs uniform

After 4 games, Carson is still learning, and what a work in progress!  As it goes in T-Ball, it is hard to get him to pay attention, but when he does he is a good little player.  In the field they move the kids around, he looks good at 1st base and shortstop, his favorite thing...running the bases and sliding "head" first, or in his case "falling"and landing on the base.  We are working on getting his bat up and back, he is a good hitter and has decent eye hand coordination.  We look forward to his progress and Dad always looks forward to a game of catch with his boy in the backyard...thats the best part of T-Ball.

Sweet Maggie!

Our little girl is already getting so big!  She's just over 3 months and she is changing every day.  She's getting bigger, "talking" more, and discovering new things - like her feet - every day!  She loves tummy time and chillin' in her swing.  She has a habit of jamming the pillow into her face when she's tired.  She's been a trooper so far at Carson's t-ball games.  Our neighbor even made a Cubs onesie for her to wear.  Hopefully we'll have some video of her laughing and smiling soon...she's doing both, but we don't have it on film yet :).

Corinne's Birthday!

We went to Corinne's 5th birthday party this past weekend and Carson had a blast!  They jumped around and played all over the gym and Carson pigged out on pizza and cake and ice cream.  Hard to believe these two buddies will be in kindergarten this fall.  They were so small when they had their "second" kiss...that's right they kissed once before this but we didn't get it on film.  Happy Birthday to sweet Corinne!  Thank you for another great party!

Mutton Bustin'

After watching an earlier show Carson said there was NO WAY he would do it...but then he changed his mind!  Thank goodness because it was one of the funniest things we've ever seen!  The guys and gals that run this are really great! They did a super job helping the kids get ready and making sure they had a fun and safe ride!  Carson was pretty excited when he finally got his chance, and he held on the best he could until falling off about half way down the arena!  He was actually hanging off the side for most of his ride, and then as he fell to the ground the sheep lost its balance, stumbled and kicked dirt right in his face!  He was a trooper though and shook it off :).  We didn't get a pic, but his face was filthy when he got out of there!  Each rider got a little goodie bag at the end and lots of cheers from the crowd.  Only five and six year-olds can do this, so hopefully he'll do it again next year!
