Student of the Month

Carson came home yesterday with very cool news from school.  He was one the kids selected to be student of the month for November. He got a very nice ribbon, certificate, and pencil.  I think there was a little ceremony during school announcements where they took pics of all the kids too!  He was most impressed that THE principal said his name during the ceremony.  Good job buddy!

Kinder Turkey Parade 2011

Carson's school did a Kinder Turkey Parade this morning. One word - Cute!  Each child made a turkey "float" out of a potato and a shoe box lid and dragged it down and back the main hall at school.  Carson has been pretty excited about this all week! He came home every day telling me that they finished their turkey, made their head bands, and then finally made their vests.  When the parade started, it was literally a blur.  Sorry about the pics but Carson's class was first out and I was trying to video and snap off pics at the same time.  I'll have to load the video later because he was pretty cute when he saw Maggie and I waiting with all the other families.  After the parade I snuck down to his classroom for a few more pics.  He's got such a great smile on his face because he was really excited that we came to his classroom. I don't get to help out at school much because Maggie is with me all the time, so it was the first time I'd come into his classroom during school hours.  His friends at his table were pretty darn cute too. Today he's buying hot lunch because it's the "Holiday Meal."  We'll see what he thinks of that :).

Who's Who?

It's no that hard to figure it out, but I thought these two pics were similar enough to play the who's who game. He's actually 3 months younger, but she's so tiny that they look to be the same age. Happy Fall everyone!

Trick or Treat

I think this year was our first full-on Trick or Treat!  We started at the Morgan's house at about 6:30 and weaved our way through the neighborhood until 9!  Maggie was an owl, and Carson was the Grim Reaper.  Why the Grim Reaper? We don't really know. Perhaps it's the awesome scythe he carries because the kid is pretty much afraid of all things Grim Reaperesque. Example: I had to beg him to take a picture with the statue in the "pretend" graveyard. Maggie of course has no concept of Halloween, so even our neighbor Mr. Peter (aka Scary Clown) didn't phase her one bit.  Maggies' costume was made by mom, and although it had it's flaws, she still looked pretty cute.  She wasn't having her goggles though, so the pic of her grabbing at them is the best one we got :).  As we made our way through the neighborhood we decided to stop at a cool haunted house in one of the cul de sacs.  Although the kids (and a few adults) wouldn't go in, a few of us big kids did!  I haven't laughed and screamed that much in A LONG time!  Carson pulled in quite a haul, and we let him indulge quite a bit when we got home.  It ended up being a pretty late night, and it was rough getting Carson up for school this morning :).  But it was well worth it because we all had a great time!

Fall Party

We made it to Grandma Connie's "river friend's" Fall Party once again this year. Grandma couldn't be there this year because she was on a fun cruise with Aunt Janis, but we were lucky enough to still get an invite!  Carson LOVES this party, and Maggie enjoyed her first experience!  She especially liked playing in the pumpkin display.  Carson had the girls paint his hair again and he did the potato sack race, egg toss, balloon toss, hay ride, bobbed for apples, hay hunt, and even smacked the pinata -- phew, busy, and FUN day!  We all had a great time!  Hopefully grandma will be able to join us again next year :).
