Carson in a Cubs uniform
After 4 games, Carson is still learning, and what a work in progress! As it goes in T-Ball, it is hard to get him to pay attention, but when he does he is a good little player. In the field they move the kids around, he looks good at 1st base and shortstop, his favorite thing...running the bases and sliding "head" first, or in his case "falling"and landing on the base. We are working on getting his bat up and back, he is a good hitter and has decent eye hand coordination. We look forward to his progress and Dad always looks forward to a game of catch with his boy in the backyard...thats the best part of T-Ball.
Sweet Maggie!
Our little girl is already getting so big! She's just over 3 months and she is changing every day. She's getting bigger, "talking" more, and discovering new things - like her feet - every day! She loves tummy time and chillin' in her swing. She has a habit of jamming the pillow into her face when she's tired. She's been a trooper so far at Carson's t-ball games. Our neighbor even made a Cubs onesie for her to wear. Hopefully we'll have some video of her laughing and smiling soon...she's doing both, but we don't have it on film yet :).
Corinne's Birthday!
We went to Corinne's 5th birthday party this past weekend and Carson had a blast! They jumped around and played all over the gym and Carson pigged out on pizza and cake and ice cream. Hard to believe these two buddies will be in kindergarten this fall. They were so small when they had their "second" kiss...that's right they kissed once before this but we didn't get it on film. Happy Birthday to sweet Corinne! Thank you for another great party!

Mutton Bustin'
After watching an earlier show Carson said there was NO WAY he would do it...but then he changed his mind! Thank goodness because it was one of the funniest things we've ever seen! The guys and gals that run this are really great! They did a super job helping the kids get ready and making sure they had a fun and safe ride! Carson was pretty excited when he finally got his chance, and he held on the best he could until falling off about half way down the arena! He was actually hanging off the side for most of his ride, and then as he fell to the ground the sheep lost its balance, stumbled and kicked dirt right in his face! He was a trooper though and shook it off :). We didn't get a pic, but his face was filthy when he got out of there! Each rider got a little goodie bag at the end and lots of cheers from the crowd. Only five and six year-olds can do this, so hopefully he'll do it again next year!
Fun at the Rodeo
After four+ years we finally made our first trip to the Rodeo! It's a HUGE deal here, and we have always wanted to take Carson...and now Maggie :). Our little "cowboy" loved it, and our little "cowgirl" was very good and slept through most of the day! Carson wanted to dress the part, and we bought him a new hat to complete the look :). Maggie had her cute cow outfit, a nice hand-me-down from Miss Fiona, thank you! We didn't get to see everything, but of what we did get to see I think Carson loved the butterfly house the most. I had told him that there would be one, and that was all he could talk about until we got to it! He was hesitant at first to touch the butterflies, but once he tried it and realized how cool it was we couldn't get him out of there! We had some good Rodeo food! Carson's chocolate quesadilla was very good...think smores on a tortilla. Yummy!!!! Stay tuned for the Mutton Bustin' post...it was so hilarious that it needs it's own separate post!!!

Carson Starts T-Ball
We had a rainy Opening Day Parade, and a chilly first game, but we are already enjoying Little League! It's crazy to watch four and five-year-olds playing baseball, but it's been really fun so far and Carson enjoys playing a sport that Dad played for so long. Mom and Dad debated which number he should have...#6 - Mom's college number, or #4 - Dad's number for all the years he played baseball and softball. Mom won the rock-paper-scissor battle but let Dad have it since it was a sport she never played. If Carson ever plays volleyball, he WILL be #6! I'm sure we'll have more game pics as the season goes along, but these are from Opening Day! The team made a really cute "float" and Carson had a blast riding along and throwing candy to the crowd. Such a fun tradition to be a part of, and I'm sure we'll be doing it for years to come!

Our 5 Year Old Science Guy!
We officially have a 5 year old now! Carson is such a curious little guy who has always been interested in science and nature. He loves doing little science experiments at home, and he LOVES telling anyone who will listen all he knows about animals, insects, and all things gross and slimy! So we decided to have a science-themed party this year. We invited a local "Science Guy" to entertain the kids, and our birthday boy loved it! And to remind us that it's a small world, our science guy ended up being from Stockton, CA and went to UC Davis! Crazy! He had several experiments and furry, feathered, and slithery critters that everyone could get close to and touch if they wanted. At the end of it all he let everyone take a ride on his home-made hover craft...we wondered what the hover craft would be when we booked him online, and as you can see it was basically a piece of plywood and a leaf blower! Hysterical! To a bunch of four and five year olds it was perfect! Thank you to all of Carson's friends for making it a special day! And a special thanks to Grandma Connie for making the trip to celebrate with us! We've been really lucky that she has been able to come visit us so much this past year!
